QATAR / EMIRATES / ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES

 

If your FIRST flight is on EMIRATES, QATAR or ETHIOPIAN airlines - the information below is your luggage allotment.

 

If your FIRST flight is on a DOMESTIC flight (i.e. United, American Airlines, Delta) before your boarding of your international flight – you will need to check luggage regulations from your domestic airlines.  This information should be on your ticket invoice.  Generally, domestic flights charge $25 for 1st bag CHECK IN bag and so forth.  Your international part of the ticket will be the same as the information below in the black.

(2) TWO checked in bags not to exceed 51 pounds (23 kilos). The total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece MUST NOT EXCEED 158 cm (62 inches). Weight cannot exceed 23K (51 pounds). You’ll be charged an additional fee for any individual items with dimensions exceeding 158 cm (62 inches) and/or 51 pounds.   With the exception of team members coming from LOS ANGELES – those team members are allotted ONE (1) check in bag and the ministry will pack and distribute the 2nd bag to the team members to carry to Uganda.

 

QATAR AIRLINES

You’ll be charged an additional fee for any individual items with dimensions exceeding 158 cm (62 inches) and/or 51 pounds.   With the exception of team members coming from LOS ANGELES – those team members are allotted ONE (1) check in bag and the ministry will pack and distribute the 2nd bag to the team members to carry to Uganda.

 

EXTRA FEES FOR OVERSIZED OR EXTRA LUGGAGE:

$160 USD and HIGHER per additional piece or oversize luggage (plus applicable taxes)

 


 

CARRY-ON:

 

SAME FOR EMIRATES, QATAR & ETHIOPIAN AIRLINES

(1)           One piece with a maximum weight of 7kgs (15.4 pounds) is acceptable free of charge. In both cases the carry on baggage should be suitable for placement in the over-head rack or under the passenger’s seat. The sum of the three dimensions (L+W+H) shall not exceed (23 x 40 x 55 cm. (9 in x 16 x 21½)

 

In addition to the carry-on luggage allowance provided herein, each passenger may carry without additional charge, the following carry-on items the weight of which shall not exceed 5kg. (11 pounds) The carry-on items are permitted for use during the flight and when retained in the passengers’ custody as listed here below:
 

  • A lady handbag, pocket book or purse, which is appropriate to normal traveling 
  • Laptop
  • An overcoat, wrap or blanket.
  • A small camera and/or a pair of binoculars.
  • A reasonable amount of reading material for the flight.

DIMENSIONS FOR CARRY-ON BAG:

55 x 40 x 23 cm (21½ x 16 x 9 inches) and must weigh no more than 7 kg (15 lbs).  Please note that many carry-on rolling type bags are 22 inches and will not be allowed.   The suitcase is measured from wheel to wheel for rolling suitcases.

 

REGULATIONS FOR LIQUIDS IN CARRY-ON HAND BAGGAGE: Government authorities in many countries have now defined restrictions on the type and quantity of liquids that may be carried in hand baggage through the airport, or on flights arriving into or departing from their country.

Limited quantities of liquids, gels or pastes must be held in individual containers not exceeding 3.5 fl. oz. (100 ml). This may include: shampoo, creams, hair gel, hair spray, suntan lotions, toothpaste, liquid or aerosol deodorants, perfumes, cosmetics such as mascara ad lip gloss, water and other drinks, soups and syrups, and other items of similar consistency. All the individual containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 8” x 8” (20cm x 20cm) or equivalent to 1.75-pint (1 liter) capacity. All items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed. You are only allowed ONE (1) quart size bag for your liquids.

 

At the airport security search, the quart size plastic bag must be removed from the carry-on bag and X-ray screened separately.

These regulations are subject to change so please check with the airlines prior to travel.

INSURANCE FOR UGANDAN MISSION TRIP IS OPTIONAL: 

Insurance for mission trips to Uganda is optional and is not included in our pricing. The cost of the insurance is generally 5% of the cost of the airline ticket.

 
Typical insurance policies include$50,000 emergency dental & medical including emergency transportation (evacuation), luggage loss, airline cancellation (full refund for certain reasons including death in family, illness, natural disaster, etc. Most policies do NOT offer airline ticket refunds if you simply change your mind.
